Do you work with all types of curls?

Not currently. At this time I specialize it tightly coiled/kinky highly textured hair. You can see an example of what that means on the gallery page, on my Instagram and Facebook pages. If you can't tell if your hair is the kind I work with please feel free to send me an email or fill out the contact form and I will get back to you with what to do next.

What products do you use?

I use a variety of professional and drugstore products. The product I use on you will depend on the texture, porosity, hydration level and overall needs of your hair. The one thing all the products I use have in common is that are high quality and usually botanically based. That means they contain plant extracts like Aloe Vera.

What products do you recommend for me?

I can't recommend products to people without having assessed their hair first. Products are based on your individual needs, desires and the state of your hair. I only give out recommendations after an initial Uncover Your Curls Experience.

Do you offer color services?

Not at this time.

How should I arrive for my appointment?

Please arrive with hair that is free of any braids, weaves, or other styles. You should have hair that has been washed and detangled within the last 10 days. Your hair should be free of any raw butters or oils as those make the cleansing and conditioning process much more difficult and increases the length of time you're in my chair.

So it sounds like you hate butter and oil?

I don't hate butter and oil at all.  There are quite a few quality products that contain one or both. But, they are properly formulated, quality and combined with other quality ingredients that together serve a purpose for your hair. I do dislike the use of raw butters and oils because there is absolutely no reason for them. Most are hydrophobic which means they repel water. Water is the only way you can hydrate your hair (hydration=water) dehydrated hair is brittle, frizzy, hair that won't hold a style. Much like oil and water my services don't mix with hair that is coated in raw butter and oil.

I use raw butter and oil on a regular basis can I still come to see you?

Yes and no. I'll be honest you will likely be throwing your money away on my services if you walk in tomorrow. The way I work and the products I use don't mix well with hair that's soaked in raw oils and butters. If you want to book an appointment I would recommend a hair detox. You need to spend at least 14 days without any raw butter or oil and staying away from shampoo conditioner and styling products that contain large amounts of either.  You will likely need to use a clarifying shampoo at least twice before I see you.

Please fill out the contact form or send me an email and let me know you would like to find out more about detoxing your hair.

Do you work with children?

Yes  5 years or older so long as they are able to sit still in the chair and allow me to cleanse and condition, style and cut their hair. If you bring your child in for an appointment and they are unable to do those things we will have to end the appointment and full payment will still be required.
